Twizel Area School’s Success at SGCNZ Otago University Sheilah Winn National Shakespeare Festivals

Twizel Area School has been selected from South Canterbury to attend the last three National Shakespeare Festivals in Wellington.

In 2012 a 15 minute extract from Twelfth Night (Act 2 Scene 5) was performed by seven of our students.

In 2013 a 5 minute student-directed piece from Much Ado About Nothing (Act 4 Scene 1) received good revues from the assessors and the award for the Best Use of Sound and Silence.

Joshua Coles-Braun was also selected for The National Schools Shakespeare Production in 2012 and he performed in a series of scenes from Pericles at Scots College Wellington and the Legislative Chamber at Parliament.

In 2014 a 15 minute student-directed extract from Henry VI Part 3 (Act 1 Scene IV) enabled five more students to attend the Wellington Festival.

For three year’s running Twizel Area School has also been awarded the Most Cooperative School Award donated by SGCNZ.
